Nathaniel Chew (1678-1731)

Nathaniel CHEW was born about 1678 in Flushing, NY. He died 14 Sep 1731 in New Jersey.

Nathaniel married Mary CLARK, daughter of William CLARK and Mary HERITAGE, Quakers, about 1705. Mary was born about 1688.

CHEW MIGRATION TO NJ: Nathaniel migrated from Flushing, Long Island along with his brother John and father, Richard Chew, about 1697.

OCCUPATION: A surveyor, Nathaniel became Overseer of Gloucester Couunty Highways

ACREAGE: He owned 200 acres on the north branch of Great Mantua Creek.

Among their children was:

Jeffery CHEW, born 10 Jan 1714 and died 10 Apr 1774.

CHEW'S LANDING, NJ:
Jeremiah Chew (1725-1782) a nephew of Nathaniel, founded the town of Chew's Landing, N.J. on Big Timber Creek.
